Home Theater Systems are an Audio Visual Experience

A few decades ago the only place that you could enjoy watching a movie was in a theater. You could watch movies at home too but the equipment available was nowhere near what the movie theaters had. You had the 8mm and 16mm and even sometimes the35mm films available to watch movies at home. But the equipment was expensive and so it was not really available to the masses Then along came the VHS format which changed things and you could now rent or buy any number of movies to watch at home on your TV. This was quite affordable equipment but it still made watching movies in a theater a different experience.
The movie theaters had a large screen and surround sound which makes the experience of watching a movie so real with the sound coming to you from different directions you had the feeling of being a silent observer to what is happening on the screen.
With the advent of surround sound systems for the home, this experience could now be enjoyed in the comfort of your home. But at this time you still had to watch a movie on a comparative small screen as the biggest size TVs had 32`` screens, were bulky and occupied a lot of space. The advances in technology today have made it possible for you to bring home the experience of the movie theater.
With the advent of the LCD and Plasma TVs the screen size has gotten larger and at the same time has cut down the bulk of the TV. These TVs are light and their thickness is very small as compared to the bulky TVs making it easier to have them in small rooms. The picture quality of these TVs has improved greatly with the advent of High Definition TVs. Also you can place these TVs on a TV stands or hang them on the wall.
If you are looking at having a home theater system for your house there are a wide variety of systems available. It depends on what your budget is and what you are looking for. The basic systems start at around $500.00 and the sky is the limit at the highest end. The most important thing to do before buying a system is research. You have to read as much as you can about the systems available to you today in the price range you want to spend. The next thing you have to do is test out the systems you have chosen in the stores. The thing that you have to remember when you are testing these systems is that what looks and sounds the best to you is what you want.
You may go in for a system that needs to be assembled from the various components or you could go for a fully integrated system. Most people go for the integrated systems as they are more convenient.
Purchasing a home theater system can pay for itself over time, since you no longer have to attend a movie theater to enjoy the full effects of a movie. Have your friend bring the pretzels and the beer and you won't even have to spring for refreshments.
