How to Give an Audio Visual Presentation
By Samibouni
One of the best tools available to both teachers and business entrepreneurs is the audio visual presentation. Whether presenting a sales pitch to one or two clients or teaching a lecture hall filled with students having material they can see will help bring home your points more clearly than words alone are capable of doing.
Charts, graphs, and even pictures allows your audience to visualize the concepts you are presenting. This in turn aids comprehension. However, to get the most out of such presentations it is necessary to present the material in a way that is easy to follow and keeps your audience attention. Here are a few tips that may aid you in giving a successful presentation.
Use Clear Simple Visual Aids
When using visual aids, it is important that these visuals be easy to see and to understand. Complicated graphs no matter how artistically arranged will only confuse your audience and lose their interest. Likewise, a simple graph that is difficult to see, won't grab anyone's attention. It is necessary to make your graph large enough for your viewing audience.
If you are presenting to a small group, a large graph on an easel may well be appropriate and will keep the audiences attention focused on you as well as the material being presented. However, if you are presenting to large group in a lecture hall or other venue, using a large screen television to present your graft may be a better idea.
Make Sure You Can be Heard
One of the most common mistakes often made in any presentation is not making sure you can be heard, especially when talking to large group or giving a presentation in a room where the acoustics are not the best. In order for your audience to understand a concept or point you are trying to make they have to first hear it. One of the most frustrating things for your audience is when they cannot hear the presentation well enough to make sense out of what your are saying.
Using a microphone and placing speakers around the room on speaker stands at the audiences level will help insure that everyone present can hear the presentation. Speakers placed on 24 inch stands scattered throughout the room will aid immensely in the oral part of your presentation.
Practice
If at all possible practice your presentation in the room where it will be given prior to the actual presentation. A run through complete with the audio visual equipment you are planning on using will ensure a smooth presentation and allow you to make any adjustments necessary prior to your audiences arrival.
There is a host of audio visual equipment to choose from that will aid in your presentations, however, remembering these three simple tips no matter what kind of presentation you are planning will ensure that your audience can get the most out of the material you are presenting.
Perfecting the art of your audio visual presentation will take a little time and effort but will be worth it in the end as it will add a whole new dimension to business meetings or classroom teaching style.
